Bad Bad Day

The whole family woke up early and we decided to go to Mac Donalds for breakfast. My husband and I thought that we would go swimming in the afternoon and the children would finally get to enjoy their weekend.

We drove happily to the Mac Donalds at Woodlands Point. After ordering our food, we sat at the table, getting the food ready. Putting pepper and salt onto the scrambled eggs, pouring packets of sugar into the hot tea... Mu husband had a cup of hot tea right in front of him and he was trying to open a packet of sugar. My youngest son, Jia Ye, who was sitting beside him was trying to touch the tea. He was cautious, using only his index finger to reach the water. When I saw that, I was a little annoyed . I was just about the tell my husband to keep Jia Ye's finger away in case he accidentally spill the tea.

The words were just at the tip of my tongue and it really happened. Jia Ye's finger has touched the water. He felt the steaming tea and was moving his hand backwards when he spilled the tea. The entire cup of hot tea splashed on him. My husband and I jumped out of our seats and grabbed Jia Ye out of the way. But, it was too late! The hot tea had scalded Jia Ye's body.

My husband pulled Jia Ye to the basin immediately and washed him with cold water. But the scald was bad. His skin was sore and red. Jia Ye was crying in pain. My husband took him to the car and removed his wet clothing, planning to bring him to a nerby clinic, while I get my two other children. By the time I got to the car with Jia Yi and Jia Ya, Jia Ye had my husband's shirt on. His skin on his right thigh and some parts of the abdomen had came off. He was screaming and was unable to sit down properly. I carried him, trying to comfort him but it was no use. it must be really painful for him. We sped to the KK Hospital.

My husband was speeding along the expressway but we were not concerned. We only wanted to get Jia Ye to the hospital as quickly as possible so that treatment could be administered. It took us only 15 minutes to get from Woodlands to KK Hospital. I think our car was captured on the speeding camera. But all that would come later.

The moment we got there, I dashed out of the car and got Jia Ye to the nurse. The nurse tried to take his heartbeat but he was too agitated to sit still. He was still crying his heart out. To us, time was passing too slowly. The nurse seemed to be taking her time and the doctor was taking too long to come. Finally, the nurse gave Jia Ye some painkillers. By then, Jia Ye was already too exhausted from all the crying. he started to calm down and slowly dozed off. Perhaps the painkillers have taken effect.

Just then, he was called into the dressing room to dress his injured area. He was awakened. There, another round of screaming continued. My heart ached to see him like this. He is only 1 years old. The nurse helped him to dress his wound while my husband and I tried to restrain him from squirming. it must be really painful for such a young soul. Finally, all was done. We were given the mediaction and an appointment to see the doctor the next day. My husband and I were guilty=stricken about it. Hopefully, Jia Ye will recover well and there would be no scar.

Mosquitoes!

Urgh! There are mosquitoes. In the kitchen. In the dish tray - the one below the dishes where you put the dishes for drying.

I saw mosquitoes larva and pupa wriggling in the dish tray. But, I didn't breed them on purpose. I think I better be more alert nowadays and make sure I check all the receptables that can hold water more thoroughly.

After seeing the larva and pupa, I quickly boiled some water and poured it over the dish tray. I think I saw them struggling for their lives for a short time and soon stopped moving. Then, I poured away the water, If I had not done that, the larva and pupa will continue to grow elsewhere, maybe in the water pipe.

Do you know that mosquitoes can spread dengue fever? Having dengue fever is no fun - if it is too serious, you may even die. Let's make sure that no mosquito grows in our house. Go check it now!
