Pulau Ubin

We went to Pulau Ubin sometime in December last year. It was my first visit there. I was planning to take lots of photos there, but it rained the moment we got there. This is the only photo I have...while we were on the bum boat.

Masking Tape

I have found great uses for the masking tape.

I use the masking tape for often this year. I used it to differentiate the groups in the class, to tape things onto the wall but the best use is ... taping Jia Ye's head.

The other day, Jia Ye accidentally knocked his head in the kitchen. He came to me, crying. When I asked him what was wrong. He told me something was 'po diao', which means torn. I was busy in the room so I asked him to use the masking tape to tape the 'whatever' was torn. He went to get the masking tape and gave it to me. I torn two pieces for him. And guess what he did? He taped his head and he had stopped crying. From then on, whenever he hit his head, the first thing he did was to get the masking tape to tape his head.

Kong Ming Lantern (Sky Lantern)

I have heard alot about Kong Ming Lantern (Sky Lantern) and it is quite popular in Taiwan. Some people write their wishes on the Lantern and then they set it up into the sky, believing that their wishes will come true. During the last Chinese New Year, I finally got the chance to 'play' with one in Malaysia. (I think it's illegal to set one in Singapore.)

My husband's brother bought many Sky Lantern so that the children can get to play with it. I quickly wrote all our wishes on the lantern before the children set the lantern into the sky. The first lantern did not managed to 'fly' into the sky, but all the subsequent ones did.

It was so cool to see the lanterns with our wishes drifting slowly into the sky. Everyone cheered as the lanterns moved higher and higher and slowly disappearing into the horizon. May our wishes come true!

The above picture was taken from the internet (Wikipedia). Isn't it a glorious sight to see hundreds of Sky Lantern drifting into the sky?

At the beach

We went to the beach recently. It was not a planned one, if not, the children would be in their swimming attire and spade for building their favourite sandcastle.

In the end, my husband flew the kite while the children play with sand (with their bare hands). Jia Ya managed to get a collection of sea shells.

My husband preparing the kite... from standing... need some water... to squarting...

testing the soil... playing with it...

Jia Ye got so dirty... and he got the water...
