Understanding Math

Math is a very interesting subject for those who can see Math in their everyday life. For those who can't, Math questions may be difficult to understand, what's more, to solve.

As a teacher, I like to tell my students to see the Math in their everyday life. If you can see Math this way, it will no longer be a problem but a beauty.

Let's just start with something simple. Your heartbeat. How many times does you heart beat in a minute? Already that's Math. Without your heartbeat, you are dead. Since you are alive, you need to wake up. What time do you wake up everyday? How long have you slept? How much toothbpaste you used? How much food and drink you take? What is the distance you travel to get to your destination? How much money did you spent? Is the food serving enough? All these are also Math. Because we have taken all these things for granted, we don't see the Math in them anymore.

As a parent, it is important not to send the message that Math is something difficult. Take time to teach the children to see the Math in their everyday life.

A Key to Understanding Math
